MONDAY MOVIES: “To Kill A Mockingbird”
Atticus Finch, as portrayed by Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird (based on the famous novel), may be the greatest lawyer ever played on the silver screen. His “character” – meant here as a homonym – is nearly flawless. Not only is he a lawyer for outcasts who don’t stand a chance, but he’s also a single dad (not without the help of Calpurnia, of course) during the Dust Bowl era. Atticus an example to live by, no matter what you do for a living: Bravery. Resolve. Unflinching principles.
“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.”
P.S. Getting the assist in this film is Boo Radley, played by Robert Duvall. I don’t want to give much away, but he’s the coolest.
