Cost of the American Dream = $130K a year
How much does it cost for a family of four to live the American Dream? $130,000 a year, according to USA Today.
The analysis takes into account a variety of data, including the median price of a home, the cost of owning one SUV, and stats on the cost of groceries (I appreciate that it also includes setting aside money for retirement savings).
For many people, this number could be higher; for instance, here in Los Angeles home ownership is much higher than the national median cost, and I imagine that most working families have to have two vehicles.
So, how does that number match up for you and your family? Are you “living the dream”, as the saying goes, or would more money (or less money) make you happier? I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
